You Deleted My Post !!!

apparently, some people never bother to read the posting guidelines.

there are lots of helpful things in there about what to post and what not to post which explain why posts may occasionally be removed and how to complain if you think we've made a wrong decision.. the typical reasons are they they are either harassing someone over a difference of opinion (play the ball, not the person) or are simply off topic.

a rose may be beautiful but if it's in a wheat field, it's still a weed.

Two For One!

back in the day - yeah, i know, most things i write start like that!

however - back in the day there was an implicit rule ratio of 2 to 1 when it came to counting time.

two witnesses witnessing to one person for one hour would count one hour each.

i recall when i was a pioneer in Birmingham..UK..in the late 60's.

i lived at home with my parents--but attended a KH in another town a few miles away,,because my girfriend was there. i had borrowed her mothers car for a few days. ( she couldnt drive )

so-- i set off from home one morning to meet up with a service group. on the way i stopped off at a house--to start my time--no one home ( thank god )..and drove off.

but there was a neighbour--who saw me--understandably thought i looked suspicious--took the car number plate--and called the police. ( there had been a number of burglaries in the area lately )

we found all this out when the police turned up at g/f's mothers house to investigate the complaint.

pity the g/f didnt dump me over this incident.

we got married a couple of years later--so her mother became my mother in law.. i learned to really hate that woman.

instead, they say, "i am one of jehovah's witnesses.".

what does the second way of saying it convey that the first does not?.

Giving fake address to elder

so i got married a few weeks ago, living a great life now with my husband, he was definitely the perfect guy for me :) but anyways, we are going to work on slowly fading, going to meetings once a week or every two weeks, and then in a few months move to a hall where nobody knows our families and the elders hardly know each other, and fade out a lot more.

but an elder asked for our address, which we didn’t feel comfortable giving him, because we don’t want any unexpected visits to “shepard” us, when we miss a few meetings, because they already text us when we miss 2 meetings in a row, which we had just gotten back from our honeymoon 🙄 so we “accidentally” gave him the wrong apartment number.

so if they ever come pokin around they will be lost, and if they call or text us we will just have an excuse for not replying.

“Millions now living will never die”

so i’m just reading the part in ray franz book “crisis of conscience” about the 1925 prediction of “millions now living will never die”.. ofcourse all witnesses are very familiar with this campaign.

yet none of us ever had an issue with it, including myself.

since the booklet was published in 1920, we are one year away from 100 years from that time.

Is The Watchtower Society Just Copying The Mormon's Model?

when i was a faithful jw i was pretty much obsessed with the mormon religion.

to me it was like lord of the rings.

i knew the characters, the history, the events, the joseph smith stories, the religion's history etc etc etc and i long suspected even then that the watchtower society has been copying certain things from the lds church.. for example, the first thing i noticed was when the book study was dropped and family worship was started.
